What if life is really about deep attachment?
For Christians, our view of attachment comes from God. Why? Look at this promise God makes to his people:
Do not be afraid… for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

God made us. He is committed to us – both today and forever. The first people sinned against him. Because of our sins, suffering came into the world. But God sent his son Jesus to save us. God is committed to us no matter what. Even when we sin against him, he never gives up.
I want to be like that too
I want to be committed to others, committed to do them good. I want to do them good, even when they sin against me.
That is what healthy Christian family looks like. Everyone attached to one another, to bless them. Forgiving each other. Being there to help in a crisis.
It’s an honour to be part of this big family.
God’s promise changes our whole view of relationships. Here is another promise:
Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!
