Five Global truths
known as “the good news”
Jesus was incarnated into the world 2000 years ago. His life, death and return to life was recorded by witnesses. This record is written in the Christian scriptures, the Bible.
1. The world was created in harmony
In the beginning there was God. Nothing else. He said, “let there be light.” And there was light. In this way he created all things by his powerful word.
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness.” So God created humanity in his own image, male and female he created them. God blessed them saying, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Reign over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature.”
God placed the first people in a beautiful garden. He said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be food for you and for all the beasts of the earth. God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.
And so, all things lived in harmony under God. You can read more in the Bible, Genesis 1 and 2.
2. People broke harmony
One day the first people broke the harmony – they turned against God and decided for themselves what is good and evil. And so, just as God promised death and suffering came into the world. God also cursed the ground. Instead of living in a fertile garden, people would need to work very hard and experience suffering until finally dying.
From that time, all people are born separated from God. We all decide for ourselves what is good and evil. We live in disharmony with God, each other and the environment. This is the dependant cause of all suffering and death. You can read more in the Bible, Genesis 3.
3. God’s plan to restore harmony
But God still loved his creation, especially humanity which he made in his likeness. From the beginning he had a plan to bring all things back into harmony with himself and each other.
God the Father sent his own Son Jesus. From birth Jesus never sinned against God but did what was good and right in God’s eyes. By God’s power he healed those with all kinds of diseases, drove out evil spirits and performed miracles. Most importantly he taught about God’s plan to restore harmony.
According to plan, Jesus let himself to be arrested. He was innocent, but evil rulers executed Jesus by nailing him to a cross. This is why Jesus died in our place, for the sin we committed. Jesus died for you and me.
4. Jesus came back to life
After his death, Jesus was buried in a tomb. On the third day, some women went to embalm Jesus’ body (according to their custom). They looked into the tomb and saw that it was empty. In the coming days Jesus appeared to his disciples.
Jesus himself stood among them … They were frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. He said, “Why do you doubt? Look at my hands and my feet. It’s me! Touch me and see….” And while they still did not believe it because of amazement, .. he said to them “This is what I told you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the prophecies: …The saviour will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.” Luke 24:36
Jesus life proved that he was God’s son, he died for our sins, and he has overcome death.
5. Jesus will restore harmony
Jesus came so that our sins could be forgiven – to restore harmony to his creation. Jesus says:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.“
All life is touched with suffering and all people sin. We must turn away from sin and return to God.
In the past God overlooked wrong belief, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead.”
God paid the price for our sin. He made a way for us to be forgiven. If we reject God’s compassion and grace, we will face judgement and death. Jesus described the punishment as an eternal fire with weeping and grinding of teeth – and no escape. But if we accept Jesus death for us, we will experience forgiveness with eternal harmony and peace.
“Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
Believe in Jesus. Experience harmony and reconciliation in Him.
